Primary Health Care, through the National Immunisation Service Department, and the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Directorate, are offering the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine as part of the National Immunisation Programme to be administered to all those born as of the year 2000 for
FREE.
This vaccine has been given to females in Malta since 2012, however it is now being offered to
Males aged 12 and above, and all those born on as of the year 2000. If you did not have the opportunity to take this vaccine before,

Why is it important to take the HPV vaccine?The Gardasil 9® (HPV) vaccine protects against 9 types of HPV virus and decreases the risk of genital warts by over 80% in both teens and adults and protects against HPV-related cancers such as cervical cancer and others.

It is important to bring with you a photo identification (ID card / passport) together with any vaccination records (baby book), if available.
Note that the full course of Vaccination for those 15 years and over is 3 doses in total at 0, 2 and 6 months.
In the case of students aged 16-18, parental consent is also requested. If this is totally unobtainable, concessions and waivers might be carried out at the discretion of the doctor in attendance, whereby the competence of the teen is assessed and the reason why consent was not obtained is clarified. This has all been discussed with the legal team of Primary HealthCare.
Adults 18 years and over DO NOT need parental consent for vaccination.
